How would you describe yourself?

– Determined, leader and verbally gifted.

 

What are your feelings at the first bootcamp of the year?

– Very hopeful about the future.

 

How did you end up to BlueWhites?

– The organization was interested in a player that I worked with, so we decided to combine our strengths as a team with BlueWhites. That meant that the organization got the roster and the team itself got the support they wanted, so everyone got their mutual benefits.

 

How would you describe your story at BlueWhites so far?

– We have been lacking the biggest challenges and knockbacks so far. The improvement has been constantly upwards.

 

Why did you choose esports?

– I was interested in video games since I was young. I noticed that League of Legends was one of the games where the esports scene was taken seriously, so it was easy to keep up the interest. Later on I thought about being part of it myself either as a player or as a coach – and here we are now.

 

How often do you compete or practice as a team?

– Usually about four times per week. That includes three hours of in-game practice and one and a half hours for the rest.

 

Do you have any other hobbies outside of the video games?

– Downhill skiing and more recently golf as well.

 

What is your best memory or highlight so far in esports?

– It was our first bootcamp with PHZ. We had a rough losing streak going on, but we turned things around and got an important victory that changed the mood completely.

 

Who would you describe as the most meaningful person or people in your career?

– My former players Crow and Koso that taught me a lot.

 

How much do you follow esports in general?

– I try to follow pretty much everything about League of Legendfs but occasionally also Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournaments.

 

If your focus would not be on League of Legends, what would be your so-called back-up plan?

– I would become either an architect or a project manager. Possibly something to do with information systems science or computer programming. Other option would be to focus on some completely new game release.

 

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

– I see myself in the next few years as a coach in the NLC 1. Division.

 

What do you think is the most challenging as an esports player?

– To understand that sometimes there is more than one right answer. Also to manage to keep up good focus while competing and practicing.

 

The best tip that you would give to beginning players?

– Analyze your own gameplay and learn from the other players around you.

 

The most important attribute as a player?

– I could say that to begin with there is this thing that you could call ”the natural talent”. Everyone unfortunately does not have it which means some need to practice even more.

 

What are your expectations for the Finnish Championship Cup (FCC)?

– I expect us to simply win with ease.

 

How would you describe the start of the year 2022?

– Everything has been very easy so far. Some minor challenges now during the play-offs, but not really any major bumps on the road.

 

How would you describe BlueWhites?

– As a new person in the organization I have been pleased with what we have and I can see all the room for growth and high potential. I am happy that me and the players are able to connect with the organization, our opinions are valued and we get the support to keep moving forward.

 

What are your goals for the rest of the 2022?

– I want to bring the level of our practice on the next level with some upcoming additions to our coaching staff. More resources means we can offer our players more opportunites to improve when my own time happens to be more limited.

Mitkä ovat fiilikset vuoden ensimmäisellä bootcampilla?

– Hyvinkin toiveikkaat tulevaa ajatellen.

 

Miten päädyit BlueWhitesin riveihin?

– Seurajohto oli kiinnostuneet yhdestä pelaajasta, jonka kanssa työskentelin. Tämän seurauksena päädyttiin yhdistämään voimat joukkueen ja organisaation välillä, minkä seurauksena kaikki saivat mitä halusivat – joukkue organisaation tuen ja BlueWhites nykyisen rosterinsa.

 

Miten kuvailisit matkaasi tähän asti BlueWhitesissa?

– Suurimmat haasteet ja takaiskut ovat vielä puuttuneet. Joukkueen kehitys on ollut tasaisesti noususuuntaista.

 

Minkä takia valitsit esportsin?

– Olin kiinnostunut videopeleistä jo nuorena. Huomasin, että League of Legends oli peleistä poikkeuksellinen, sillä esports otettiin ajatuksena tosissaan, minkä seurauksena oli helppo pitää kiinnostus lajiin yllä ja jäädä koukkuun. Myöhemmin heräsikin sitten ajatus esportsin parissa joko pelaajana tai valmentajana – ja tähän sitten päädyttiin.

 

Kuinka usein harjoittelette tai kilpailette?

– Tavoitteena on keskimäärin noin neljä kertaa viikossa, josta vuorokauteen kuuluu arviolta kolme tuntia pelaamista ja puolitoista tuntia jälkeen muuta joukkueensisäistä.

 

Löytyykö harrastuksia videopelien ulkopuolella?

– Laskettelu ja nykyään myös golf kuuluu vapaa-aikaan.

 

Uran kohokohta tai paras muisto tähän asti?

– Ensimmäinen bootcamp PHZ:n kanssa. Oli ollut vaikea tappioputki, mikä käännettiin ympäri todella tärkeällä voitolla, mikä käänsi kelkan ja motivaation.

 

Ketkä ovat olleet merkittävimpiä henkilöitä urallasi?

– Entiset pelaajat Crow ja Koso, jotka auttoivat kehittymään valmentajana.

 

Kuinka paljon seuraat esportsia?

– Oikeastaan kaikki mahdollinen League of Legendsiin liittyvä tulee seurattua sekä Counter-Strike: Global Offensive siinä sivussa.

 

Jos et olisi keskittynyt League of Legendsiin, niin mikä olisi toinen vaihtoehto?

– Joko ura arkkitehtinä tai projektipäällikkönä, ohjelmointiin ja tietojärjestelmätieteeseen liittyen – tai olisin keskittynyt johonkin uuteen tulevaan pelijulkaisuun.

 

Missä näet itsesi viiden vuoden päästä?

– NLC 1. Division, valmentajana – tavoitteena muutaman vuoden sisällä.

 

Mikä on haasteellisinta kilpapelaamisessa?

– Pelaajan täytyy ymmärtää, että asioiden ratkaisemiseen voi olla useampi oikea tapa. Yleinen keskittymisen ylläpito myös hyvin tärkeää.

 

Paras vinkki aloitteleville kilpapelaajille?

– Analysoi aktiivisesti omaa pelaamista ja ole valmis ottamaan palautetta muilta.

 

Tärkein ominaisuus pelaajana?

– Lähtökohtaisesti voisi sanoa, että se niin kutsuttu ”luonnollinen lahjakkuus”, mitä ei valitettavasti kaikilla aina ole. Tämän voi kuitenkin korvata kovalla harjoittelemisella.

 

Odotukset NLC?

– Tavoitteena haastaa NLC 2. Divisionin sarjaportaan alemman puolen joukkueita.

 

Odotukset Suomen Liigasta (FCC)?

– Odotuksena yksinkertaisesti helppo voitto.

 

Kertoisitko alkuvuodesta 2022 lyhyesti?

– Ollut todella helppo tie. Nyt vasta play-offien aikana tullut joitain haasteita vastaan, mutta päästy siitä huolimatta hyvin helposti eteenpäin.

 

Miten kuvailisit BlueWhitesia?

– Uutena henkilönä organisaatiossa, mutta olen ollut tyytyväinen ja näen paljon kasvuvaraa sekä potentiaalia toiminnassa. Erityisen tyytyväinen, että kuunneltu omia ja pelaajien mielipiteitä sekä tuettu menemään eteenpäin.

 

Tavoitteet loppuvuodelle 2022?

– Nostetaan harjoitteleminen uudelle tasolle ja vahvistetaan valmennusta entisestään. Tällä toiminnalla saadaan enemmän resursseja ja tavoitteena tarjoa pelaajille enemmän mahdollisuuksia, kun oma henkilökohtainen aika ei aina riittäisi.
